ChatGPT vs Gemini vs DeepSeek: Which Sounds Most Human?
We tested the three major AI models on the same prompts and measured how "human" their output sounds to AI detectors. The results may surprise you.
The experiment
We gave the same three prompts to ChatGPT (GPT-4), Google Gemini, and DeepSeek:
1. 'Write a 300-word blog post about morning routines'
2. 'Summarize the causes of climate change in 200 words'
3. 'Write a product description for wireless earbuds'
Then we ran each output through our AI Detector to score how machine-generated they sounded.
The results
**ChatGPT (GPT-4):** Scored 82-95% AI across all prompts. The writing is polished and grammatically perfect — which is exactly the problem. Perfectly balanced sentences, rich transitions ('Moreover', 'Furthermore'), and a formal register that screams machine.
**Gemini:** Scored 78-91% AI. Gemini's output tends toward longer, more complex sentences with heavier subordinate clauses. The vocabulary is slightly more varied than ChatGPT's but the structural patterns are equally recognizable.
**DeepSeek:** Scored 74-88% AI — the lowest of the three, but still firmly in 'AI' territory. DeepSeek's prose is noticeably more formal and evenly-paced than the other two, which paradoxically makes some passages easier to flag.
All three produce text that detectors catch easily. None of them can pass as human without editing.
Which model leaves the fewest traces?
Interestingly, the answer depends on the writing task:
- For **casual/blog writing**, DeepSeek's output is slightly less detectable because it occasionally produces awkward phrasing that reads as non-native human.
- For **academic writing**, ChatGPT is hardest to distinguish because formal academic prose is already close to AI patterns.
- For **creative writing**, all three are easy to detect — they lack the specific, unexpected details that human creativity produces.
But the differences are marginal. If you're submitting AI text anywhere that uses detection, you need to humanize it regardless of which model you used.
How to make any model sound human
The model matters less than the editing. Whether you use ChatGPT, Gemini, or DeepSeek, the same fixes apply:
1. Vary sentence length — mix 4-word punches with 25-word+ sentences
2. Remove AI vocabulary (delve, moreover, tapestry, leverage, robust...)
3. Add contractions and casual connectors
4. Include one specific detail that only a human would add
Our AI Humanizer applies all four automatically. Paste text from any model — ChatGPT, Gemini, or DeepSeek — and watch the AI score drop.
